The chart above depicts the percent of contributions in U.S. Dollars donated to Republican and Democrat candidates/parties/affiliated groups, seeking national office during the 2020 election cycle, donated by employees, or owners, of the companies listed, and those individuals' immediate family members, based on data collected from www.opensecrets.org.
In some instances the money was possibly donated by the actual company, but the bulk of it typically comes from individuals within the company, or immediate family members of individuals within the company. The only way I'm discussing the actual organization is if I reference it as "the organization itself", otherwise, I'm talking about the jargon mentioned above (individuals within the company, owners, employees, direct family, etc.). In some instances, the money considered contributed may come from PACs affiliated with the mentioned organization.
Facts/Thoughts/Notes:
Wow. I don't even know where to start on this one. Of the ten universities I used for this analysis, more than $3,000,000 alone went straight to the Biden Campaign.
When you google "Most conservative college in the country" it give you BYU is a common one you will come up with. Get this, BYU donations (as described from the parties above) donated more than triple the amount to Joe Biden, as Donald Trump, in the 2020 campaign. For those that say, "Yeah but that's because Trump is so mean!" Okay... well that still doesn't give BYU a pass because donations to Democrats over Republicans was more than double. I will point out that the organization itself is penciled in at having made only one donation, that being $175 to the Republican National Committee. That does very little for my eyes. After hours of searching for a university that donated more to Republicans than Democrats, I finally came across Liberty University, which 92% of contributions made by those associated with Lberty U, went to Republicans.
One quick note about the University of Texas, it has many schools that fall under the UT umbrella, including in Dallas, Arlington, San Antonio, the Rio Grande Valley, etc., and so if the numbers under UT seem high, they are and that's because of the multitude of schools that gather under the University of Texas umbrella.
Finally, Democrats on the Left, Republicans on the Right!
University of Central Florida $203,308 $20,297
Texas A&M $682,263 $139,523
Ohio State $1,443,475 $117,420
Florida International University $360,615 $46,351
University of Florida $985,233 $177,413
Arizona State University $1,170,315 $53,301
University of Texas $3,680,923 $423,782
University of Minnesota $2,277,847 $96,320
Michigan State University $1,252,168 $71,438
Indiana University $1,412,667 $70,626
Totals $13,468,814 $1,216,471
The ten universities above donated a combined $14,685,285, to 2020 political campaigns. 92% of which (equaling $13,468,814) went to candidates (or entities associated with) Democrats.,
