The chart above depicts the percent of contributions in U.S. Dollars donated to Republican and Democrat candidates/parties/affiliated groups, seeking national office during the 2020 election cycle, donated by employees, or owners, of the companies listed, and those individuals' immediate family members, based on data collected from www.opensecrets.org.
In some instances the money was possibly donated by the actual company, but the bulk of it typically comes from individuals within the company, or immediate family members of individuals within the company. The only way I'm discussing the actual organization is if I reference it as "the organization itself", otherwise, I'm talking about the jargon mentioned above (individuals within the company, owners, employees, direct family, etc.). In some instances, the money considered contributed may come from PACs affiliated with the mentioned organization.
This is one of those times you do not want to ask yourself, "How low can you go?" and have an answer that indicates you plan to go low. Stay on the highroad. Start with Cane's and raise from there. If it falls below Cane's, avoid it.

Additionally, there will not be a total number for this page, as some of these fast food chains are owned by the same group (example YUM Brands owns Pizza Hut, KFC, and Taco Bell, so their numbers would be duplicates in the grand total. I went ahead and just did it by each individual place, regardless of whether or not they shared the same parent company. I don't want to go too far into the weeds on this, but thought I'd offer a short explanation to help readers understand.
You may also notice that the numbers for Dunkin' are different than on the pages for bakeries and coffee. That's because for this particular example, I always used the individual brand itself if it was available, rather than the parent company. Regardless, Dunkin' still rates red, and that's a good thing!
