The chart above depicts the percent of contributions in U.S. Dollars donated to Republican and Democrat candidates/parties/affiliated groups, seeking national office during the 2020 election cycle, donated by employees, or owners, of the companies listed, and those individuals' immediate family members, based on data collected from www.opensecrets.org.
In some instances the money was possibly donated by the actual company, but the bulk of it typically comes from individuals within the company, or immediate family members of individuals within the company. The only way I'm discussing the actual organization is if I reference it as "the organization itself", otherwise, I'm talking about the jargon mentioned above (individuals within the company, owners, employees, direct family, etc.). In some instances, the money considered contributed may come from PACs affiliated with the mentioned organization.
This page is a difficult one. I could have added grocery stores to this list, as many of the grocery chains have bakeries. I didn't. You can see grocery stores for that and figure it out if you want to use a grocery store bakery. The main point of this page is to help you understand that the company that owns Panera Bread, Einstein Bros. Bagels, and Krispy Kreme, (AKA JAB Holdings) contributed (as described above in the first two paragraphs) a lot of money to Democrats. The organization itself even made two federal candidate contributions, both of which went to Democrats running for Congress. We need to cross Panera Bread, Einstein Bros., and Krispy Kreme, off of our lists for breakfast.
The parent company for Dunkin' Donuts is Roark Capital Group. You can measure Dunkin' by looking not only at Roark, but also at Dunkin' Brands. Both analyses demonstrate that Dunkin' Donuts affiliates gave more to Republicans. Dunkin' Brands, in terms of the organization itself, gave a little bit more to Democrats, but those affiliated with the company gave more to Republicans. One thing I like to consider is what both sides did, and I never like to punish the employees because of the organization itself. It seems as though Dunkin' is a better conservative brand and a conservative choice for breakfast/coffee if you're on the go. (Roark Capital Group did not donate to either party, directly from the organization itself).
Finally, Democrats on the Left, Republicans on the Right!
Panera Bread* $298,106 $148,473
Dunkin' Donuts**$137,127 $565,496
Totals $435,233 $713,969
The bakeries above donated a combined $1,149,202, to 2020 political campaigns. 62% of which (equaling $713,969) went to candidates (or entities associated with) Republicans.
*Panera Bread is owned by JAB Holdings, which includes many brands/companies as subsidiaries, not just those mentioned.
**Dunkin' Donuts is owned by Roark Capital Group, which includes which includes many brands/companies as subsidiaries, not just those mentioned. However,
