Cell Phone Makers

Additional Information

The chart above depicts the percent of contributions in U.S. Dollars donated to Republican and Democrat candidates/parties/affiliated groups, seeking national office during the 2020 election cycle, donated by employees, or owners, of the companies listed, and those individuals' immediate family members, based on data collected from www.opensecrets.org.

In some instances the money was possibly donated by the actual company, but the bulk of it typically comes from individuals within the company, or immediate family members of individuals within the company.  The only way I'm discussing the actual organization is if I reference it as "the organization itself", otherwise, I'm talking about the jargon mentioned above (individuals within the company, owners, employees, direct family, etc.).  In some instances, the money considered contributed may come from PACs affiliated with the mentioned organization.

This is not an easy topic.  But I'll try to simplify it as best I can.

93.85% of donations from those affiliated with Google (owned by Alphabet Inc.) went to Democrats, for a total contributed amount of $21,823,137.

Caterpillar (I know you can get the CAT phone at T-Mobile) is a tricky one.  They license the Caterpillar name to Bullitt Group Ltd.  I'll leave the research to you, but if you sit down and look at all of these companies that make actual phones, you're probably going to find yourself wondering whether or not anyone in America is making a phone.  For that purpose, go all the way to the bottom of this page.  With that said, let's look at Caterpillar's numbers.

61.27% of donations from those affiliated with Caterpillar went to Republicans, for a total contributed amount of $893,914.

81.41% of donations from those affiliated with Nokia (makers of Alcatel phones) went to Democrats, for a total contributed amount of $234,284.

77.73% of donations from those affiliated with Lenovo went to Democrats, for a total contributed amount of $133,307.

64.56% of donations from those affiliated with LG went to Democrats, for a total contributed amount of $12,973.

92.83% of donations from those affiliated with Apple went to Democrats, for a total contributed amount of $7,587,170.

70.16% of donations from those affiliated with Samsung went to Democrats, for a total contributed amount of $537,319.

According to  What cell phones are made in the USA? | Top Ten Reviews, the only USA made Cell phone is the Librem 5.  I'll be looking into this phone more in the near future.

Trumpanies Maker Choice!

It's rough out there.  I hope to do more research on the Caterpillar phones and the Linux Librem 5, with a targeted recommendation for sometime in the future.  Ahh... just throw'em away!  These things are a nuisance.  I personally have an Alcatel (owned by Nokia, ugh!).

Order your Librem 5 here!
