The chart above depicts the percent of contributions in U.S. Dollars donated to Republican and Democrat candidates/parties/affiliated groups, seeking national office during the 2020 election cycle, donated by employees, or owners, of the companies listed, and those individuals' immediate family members, based on data collected from www.opensecrets.org.
In some instances the money was possibly donated by the actual company, but the bulk of it typically comes from individuals within the company, or immediate family members of individuals within the company. The only way I'm discussing the actual organization is if I reference it as "the organization itself", otherwise, I'm talking about the jargon mentioned above (individuals within the company, owners, employees, direct family, etc.). In some instances, the money considered contributed may come from PACs affiliated with the mentioned organization.
51% of the $14,410,851 donated in the airline industry went to Democrats, for a sum total amount donated of $7,278,500 to assist their campaigns.
Analyzing each airline is important and some of my biases may seem inconsistent, but I'll do my best to explain my eventual choice.
American Airlines was 50/50 in the nearly $4 million described above. The actual airline itself donated more money to conservatives than it did to liberals, but that's an entirely different breakdown that you can see for yourself by going to the website referenced above. They get a gold star from me because individuals within the company donated more money to Trump than they did Joe Biden in 2020.
Delta Air Lines (it's not me being inconsistent with how to spell airline, it's the industry itself, so save it!) gave 54% of $4,679,200 to Republicans, for a grand total amount of $2,540,269. While they also donated more money to Republicans from the organization itself, I did have one issue with them when digging deep. The reason they won't get as high remarks from me is because individuals within the company donated a few more dollars to Biden, than they did Trump. It's a very small amount, but I imagine if you're landing a plane a very small margin can be quite significant. So they do get a silver star from me for the fact that Biden got more individual contributions than Trump... unbelievable!
United Airlines collectively donated 59% to democrats which came out to $1,880,021 in the pockets of democrats. They also donated a small amount more (as individuals) to Biden than Trump in 2020, for more details, go see for yourself. This group gets a White Dwarf (AKA remnants of a dead star).
Southwest Airlines donated 60% of the time to Republicans, which came out to be $1,502,645 total in the trunks of elephants. Not only that, but the organization itself only donated money to Republicans. While several of the mentioned airlines either donated approximately 50/50, or not at all, from the organization itself, Southwest Airlines was 100% red. Go a step further and you'll find out that they Trumped Biden big time on the individual contributions towards good ol' #45. For this, I give them the gold star of the group.
Jetblue, Alaska, and Spirit, I'd rather walk. Collectively those companies overwhelmingly donated to Democrats, >60% (other than JetBlue which was 59%) in most cases, and all of them had a greater number of dollars coming in for Biden than they did Trump in the 2020 election. Stay away from these airlines if you don't wish to continue supporting those that do not support us.
Finally, Democrats on the Left, Republicans on the Right!
American $1,915,423 $1,903,096
Delta $2,138,931 $2,540,269
United $1,880,021 $1,323,319
Frontier $40,995 $46,958
Southwest $599,048 $903,597
JetBlue $245,832 $168,380
Alaska $402,447 $210,083
Spirit $55,803 $36,649
