The chart above depicts the percent of contributions in U.S. Dollars donated to Republican and Democrat candidates/parties/affiliated groups, seeking national office during the 2020 election cycle, donated by employees, or owners, of the companies listed, and those individuals' immediate family members, based on data collected from www.opensecrets.org.
In some instances the money was possibly donated by the actual company, but the bulk of it typically comes from individuals within the company, or immediate family members of individuals within the company. The only way I'm discussing the actual organization is if I reference it as "the organization itself", otherwise, I'm talking about the jargon mentioned above (individuals within the company, owners, employees, direct family, etc.). In some instances, the money considered contributed may come from PACs affiliated with the mentioned organization.
Colgate is the #1 brand in the US and the parent company is Colgate-Palmolive. Also, other top ten brands owned by Colgate include Tom's of Maine and Ultra Brite.
Crest is #2, and they're the brand that fits under Procter & Gamble.
Sensodyne and Aquafresh are owned by GlaxoSmithKline
Aim, Arm and Hammer, Pepsodent, and Close Up are owned by Church and Dwight.
We weren't left with great choices. However, I will say that Procter & Gamble, from the organization itself, donated solely to Republicans, in the tune of $23k. Couple that with the highest percentage donated to Republicans, and I think you at the end of the day, you likely still want to brush your teeth. Let me know out there if anyone finds something we could recommend that would be healthier and fit more in line with conservative views.
Finally, Democrats on the Left, Republicans on the Right!
Colgate-Palmolive $97,916 $15,662
Procter & Gamble $607,210 $462,236
GlaxoSmithKline $558,172 $321,637
Church and Dwight $17,769 $4,591
Totals $1,281,067 $804,126
